The Necessity of Supporting the ANDA Lab
According to the presentation materials from the Nursing Field Public Forum on the Basic Research Laboratory Support Project by the National Research Foundation of Korea on July 29, 2021, there were zero group research projects in the nursing field up to that point, with all research being conducted individually. This highlights the urgent need for support in collaborative nursing research.
As society enters a super-aged era, foundational research on patients residing in communities and receiving home-visit nursing services becomes increasingly important. It is imperative to develop evidence-based nursing research and cultivate professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate such services effectively.
Scientific approaches are essential in nursing. Foundational research is crucial for implementing big data-based, evidence-driven services utilizing data science. However, detailed data analysis studies on community-based nursing, such as home health care, remain insufficient. Therefore, expanding support for data-driven foundational nursing research is necessary.
The Korean nursing community recognizes that Korea lags approximately 20 years behind advanced countries like the United States in nursing science. To bridge this gap, systematic foundational nursing research and professional development through national support are essential. Supporting the ANDA Lab is vital to provide evidence-based nursing care suitable for the aging society.
